Configuring Grid Systems

What is a Grid System?

A grid system is used to create a unified and recognizable style for your publication by organizing your content in an effective way.

When working in Setka Editor, we use column grids — the basic grids in graphic design. These are often supplemented with horizontal rows constructed depending on your font size. Their configuration depends on the number of columns, margins and gutters.

Column grids help to develop design for a variety of devices: computers, tablet, PCs and mobiles. Columns provide necessary limitations that enable you to efficiently and coherently arrange your content.

Setka Editor provides 4 grid systems by default: 6, 8, 10, and 12 column grids.

Can I add my own grid system?

You can upload a grid of your own. To do it, click Add Grid System. You can also specify the number of base columns, the gutter between them and the side margins (horizontal margins).

How do I disable the grid?

In order to disable the grid, click on the arrow and select Disable. The chosen grid will be removed from the Grids section but posts using this grid will not lose their appearance.

Delete this grid system option will completely remove it from your Grid systems.

You are not able to delete all grid systems, as at least one grid system is required for any post.

You can add as many post grid systems as you like.

Auto and Limited content width

When adding a new grid system, you are prompted to select either Auto or Limited widths, and set an advanced option for each.

Auto width fits 100% of your content container. The margin width remains constant and the  container size is not affected by a window resize.

Limited width lets you set an exact maximum content width limit in pixels. Margins are fluid and fill all the available space between the container and post content's width, which keeps content in the center. Select a Limited grid system when you images overhanging the post width.
