What is a Grid System?
A post grid is used during layout and makes it possible to organize simple and complex information, highlight key points and create a unified and recognizable style for your publication.
When working in Setka Editor, we use column grids — the basic grids in graphic design. Those are often supplemented with horizontal rows constructed depending on the font size. Their configuration depends on the number of columns, margins, and gutters.
Column grids help to develop design for a variety of devices: computers, tablet PCs, and mobiles. Columns provide necessary limitations to enable you to decide efficiently how to arrange the contents, leaving you, however, with a multitude of options to combine different types of information (texts and images) and design elements.
Can I add my own post grid?
In Setka Editor you can select one of the four most used grids or add your own.
Check the Grid section for basic grid settings for your chosen Setka Editor’s default settings offer several types of grids: 6 columns, 8 columns, 10 columns, and 12 columns.
You can upload a grid of your own. To do it, click Add Grid System. You can also specify the number of base columns, the gutter between them and the side margins (horizontal margins).
In order to disable the grid, click on the arrow and select Disable. The chosen grid will be removed from the Grids section but posts with this grid will not lose their apperance.
Delete this grid system option will completely remove it from your Grid systems.
If you try to disable all grid systems, you will not be able to delete the last one, as at least one grid system is required for any post.
You can add as many post grid systems as you want.
Auto and Limited content width
By adding new grid system you can select either Auto or Limited one and set an advanced options for each.
Auto fits 100% of your content container. Margin width is constant, container size is not affected by a window resize.
Limited lets you set an exact maximum content width limit in pixels. Margins are fluid and fill all the available space between container's and post content's width keeping content in the center. Select Limited grid system when you need to have an image overhanging the post width.
